Washington State – Chardonnay

Two Mountain Winery — Chardonnay — 2024 — Copeland Vineyard — Zillah, WA

The Yakima Valley in Washington State is known for a great variety of wines, including Chardonnay. This estate wine from Two Mountain Winery is made from grapes grown in their Copeland Vineyard.

The wine was a beautiful light gold hue in the clear glass on a warm evening. Well, more like an evening during a heat wave. But this is why white wines are made for summers!

This Chardonnay had fragrances of oak and crisp apple right from the beginning. Beneath that, a slight metallic smell mixes with talc and vanilla. While oak and apple were prominent, they were also very inviting.

I’m not a fan of buttery Chardonnay, so I was pleasantly surprised to instead taste crisp acidity. The oak and the apple were present in the taste as well, so much so, that it reminded me of a delicate apple cider. There was also the slight hint of new pennies, which I actually enjoyed.

I found myself enjoying this wine the longer I drank it. I would drink this wine again and recommend it to others who aren’t fans of other American buttery Chardonnays.

Score: 8.7

I’m Jackie

After spending more than a decade tasting wines from all around the world, I decided to taste the various wines made in the United States. Each state in the country makes wine, and this is my quest to taste one from each and review them in this blog.
