One of the best parts of hiking through Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland is that at the bottom of the journey is a vineyard filled with various wines to try and amazing food trucks to help you make up for the calories you burned off.

On this particular day we stopped by, the weather was chilly but beautiful in the sun. So we sat outside, enjoyed great South American sausages, and tried various wine, looking for one to try for this review. We settled on the dry rosé because they’re usually not my favorite, but I found myself really enjoying it.

This 2024 rosé was grown, produced and bottled by Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard, and is made primarily of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. It was aged six months in stainless steel on their property.

The wine is a clear, rosy pink and has an immediate sweet and fruity fragrance, with a hint of florals.

Sugarloaf’s rosé is bright and cheery, and very refreshing on the palate. It’s light on tannins and with flavors of cantaloupe and bubble gum. The scent of florals expresses itself in the taste as a bouquet of roses.

While rosé is not usually my favorite, this wine from Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard is one of the best I’ve ever had. I could recommend this for an outdoor experience on a sunny, but unfortunately, the winery has sold out of their 2024 vintage. I look forward to trying it again in their 2025 vintage next year.

Score: 7.8/10

I’m Jackie

After spending more than a decade tasting wines from all around the world, I decided to taste the various wines made in the United States. Each state in the country makes wine, and I will attempt to taste one from each and review them in this blog. I’m not a professional wine drinker, so my reviews will be based on how I liked each bottle of American wine, versus a professional review.
